Should the VRAM that's exposed on the back of the 580 be covered with thermal pads? Also I lost the little nylon washers that go on the heatsink screws and I don't know where the heck to get some. Is it okay to not use them or will I short out the card? Thanks

Please avoid creating new threads to pose the same or similar questions. This makes the job of managing the forum challenging and having multiple concurrent threads on the same type of subject matter makes it difficult for other members of the community to find information or participate in meaningful discussions. (Example: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/627221-thermal-pad-580m.html). Here is a thread where this question would be a good fit: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...7x-r3-cpu-gpu-re-pasting-guide-w-pics-11.html for anyone with questions about repasting and thermal pads.

Please consider using Google to search our forum for answers to simple questions. It is an effective tool. Example: site:forum.notebookreview.com 580M thermal pads. You will often find information in a thread for a different model of laptop (i.e. M18x) that will apply to your situation.

For anyone reading this thread, please take a moment to review the information in the links below if you haven't already done so.
