So i got my 580M installed, the heatsink and backplate from my 6870M fit perfectly. uninstalled AMD driver, trying to install drivers for Nvidia (301.42) and it says "Nvidia Installer Cannot Continue. You must install an intel(R) driver first."
i've heard that the 580m can be flashed to a 675M, havent found any info that really defines any sort of performance increase by doing this, can anyone confirm this? I'm already looking into the throttle fix.

Intel drivers here: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States].
There is no performance increase from flashing a 675M vbios to a 580M; the change is purely cosmetic. They're the same card with different labels. -
tried the intel driver above, says not validated for this computer? odd...
wonder if i need to run driver cleaner to remove something or what? -

I don't know. Your 2630QM has an embedded Intel 3000 graphics processor; that's the Intel 3000 driver from the Dell R3 driver support board. It's the one I'm using with my 2920XM, which uses the same Intel 3000 IGP. You have not disabled the IGP in the bios have you? Otherwise, I have no idea why it won't install.

Ah, disregard. totally forgot that technically with ATI the "intel" drivers are embedded into their install, so even though i uninstalled the ATI stuff, i still had the intel stuff running the integrated graphics without my control. unfortunately you cant just remove them from the add/remove programs list either. Had to run Driver Sweeper. removed both intel & ATI drivers, reboot, now its installing. we'll see how it performs. should be an awesome upgrade from the 6870M. Bout to reboot.... again... lol
