Pretty much open to anyone that wants to donate to the guy doing the mod. I didn't post any requests in the other forum because I wasn't sure if anyone would donate along with me.

You didn't answer my question ;). Which is:

Who do I send the money to? The thread you linked has only one post and only pledges a donation if someone provides a workable mod. I don't see anyone saying they are working on it with a link to PayPal accout.

I'm even willing to donate to someone that is attempting a mod, it is just not clear to me if anyone is working on resolving this particular issue from Bios Mods -The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source.

This is unacceptable. I just ran a benchmark using FFXIV and it throttled at stock.

    100% UNACCEPTABLE.

Is there absolutely no way of getting 3D to work with A04? Have you tried Flashing to A04 and reinstalling the drivers using and selecting advanced, clean install and manually choosing the 3D vision components. Or is it a hardware thing and the emitter just refuses to turn on?

    Sorry but I won't participate.

I'm sending back my M17 and will order a new one by next week, this time with a 6990M :). Hoping they are still easely available !!
I guess I'm a bit too old for these stupid and painfull throttle trouble

I hope for you guys that Dell or Nvidia will react fast

There is a good deal for one with literally the same specs as your laptop with the 6990m in the marketplace.

Yes I'm sure I will get some sooner or later, that's what it's all about in computing business :D

In my case I guess that it was lost in advance as I'm originally an ATi fan - I own two eyefinity desktops in 5916x1200 for a while now and really enjoying them
But as I'm not too narrow minded, I thought I would give a try for Nvidia 3D solution...

Honestly 3D is fun for some car sims, arcade flight sims or solo fps, but really very uncomfortable for multiplayer fps .
For the M17xR3 it disables the igp, 2h of battery power to the very maximum instead of +4h30. It also disables wireless HD ...and all this for +460€ with the 580M !!

On the opposite the 6990M performs very well, can be undervolted a little with the same stock clocks : less heat, all components lifetime increased ...and no downcloking :D, so far as I know :p
For what, around 5% less in some games ?
The only drawback I see is the 120Hz screen.

I can also say that the Dell salesguy was not giving the correct informations - none of the above compatibility issues was given when he processed the order through their system. It might have changed my choice

To me it shows that Dell pushed the sale of 3D laptops before having even tested them fully... Or is it Nvidia not feeling too confident about their products to the point that they have castrated the 580M ?

I stop here as it's going to be irrelevant in this thread
Still wish you the best with your 580M ;)

Actually wireless hd works fine, it is Intel's wireless transmitting deal that doesn't work because the IGP is being bypassed.
