    I recently had dell switch my 4870 to a 5870 card and now when I watch videos it skips what should I do or is this normal

    What VBios version is on the 5870 is it the same as this one. 012.020.000.027.037640

    you can check it using GPU-z

    Also what driver are you using?

    When it "skips", does the picture freeze for a few seconds while the sound keeps playing? Then does the screen flash, and the video comes back normal? If that's the case, you're see the display driver crashing while you're watching videos.

    If this is what you're seeing, try upgrading to the ATI 11.4 drivers. You'll need the new VBIOS version (see Mkelliny's post), and there's a thread in the M17x forum about the 11.4 drivers themselves. Make sure that you run Driver Sweeper after you remove the old drivers, but before you install the new drivers.

    I am using the newest drivers for the ATI.
