ok... I installed the 11.1 beta drivers and ran 3dmark 11 four times. I got 52xx for each run. during the 5th run my m17x automatically shuts off. not only did my m17x shut off, the ac Adapter shut off also.

my laptop then refuses to boot. I couldn't turn on my laptop even with battery power. I had to do a power drain by holding the power button with no battery or ac power. My laptop starts now but my score is now down to 50xx. I can't get any higher no matter what. any ideas to what happened? driver issues perhaps?

i don't mean to sound rude, but when using beta drivers, especially when you start having problems like this, isn't the obvious solution to submit feedback to AMD/Alienware and then revert back to drivers that didn't have this behavior? (or in this case, completely reformat your computer)

happens now with 10.12 and dell drivers. system will shut off when it's pushed real hard. I monitored the temperatures, CPU 88C, GPU1 86C, GPU2 83C. I'm guessing that my PSU is starting to break down.

If you scored 5200+ in 3dmark11, I'm assuming you were overclocking. You likely tripped the PSU.

Usually when I trip the PSU, it restarts or shuts down then I can immediately start my laptop up . I've never had it completely shut down and even with the battery attached, the laptop can't be turned on unless I unplug the PSU and replug it back in. and now I can't even pass 50xx anymore with the same overclock. can't call alienware either since their tech support is down until monday. oh well, no more benching until I figure out what's going on. thanks for the replys guys.

When your system crashed, it probably reverted your CCC settings.

My m17x doesn't even cross 5xxx on P mode, it would be worse on extreme tests. 5870 xfire.

Most likely you tried to over draw more current than the provided rating and charger must have received surges. Try changing the charger to evaluate results.

I score the score in my signature with a pretty beastly overclock. 5K is an amazing score.

5k is easy to hit with the latest driver release and an extreme CPU.

my overclock is not too extreme. my GPUs are 1.15v 900/1230 clocks and my cpu is 25x multiplier TDP at 110 and TDC at 105. bios overclock is at 5% default voltage. Don't think my CCC was reverted, I driver sweeped and reinstall 10.12, reinstalled 11.1, reinstalled dell drivers. all same issue. this overclock was very stable before, now I can't even finish 1 run of vantage or 3dmark11.
