Hi folks....so turns out i dont have a lot of dough on me ....but i still wanna get the m17x ..i started by dreaming about the 18x which is not working out ....so i decided ill get a 17x to pamper me ...anyways ...now the question is ..how does the 6870m perform in games(bf3 , skyrim , max payne 3 , mw3 etc) ....i am not an ultra freak when it comes to gaming but high would be nice......can someone just post a quick reality check on how these games would perform.

Sorry i tried searching for threads couldnt find a lot .
Wasnt sure if this is a purchase order question...so decided to leave it in a new thread.....lastly ill appreciate a quick response ....since i am looking to purchase it in 1-2 days for sure.

Also looking at i7 quads (base processor 2670 or something) , 8 giggs , and 1920*1080.

    I have a 6870m, 2670qm.
    Skyrim ultra @ 1920x1080 -40-55 Sits around 45 mostly.
    BF3 on High/Custom/NOAA @ 1920x1080 -30-45 Pretty playable.
MW3 isnt a very demanding game in comparison ( I have it, not installed though)
The Secret World ran at just 30-35 (un-optimized)
    Guild Wars 2 - 30-45

It plays pretty well, and apparently it can overclock pretty well, however even small overclocks gave me massive tearing and made my secondary monitors flash/tear when do very simple tasks (such as scrolling down chrome )

so does that mean ....this card is not capable of being overclocked since you experienced massive tearing ?

i've read a bunch of places that it "overclocks like a pro."

but I didn't experience it, thats all. Its still a great card for the price, and you can always upgrade it later.

If you dont have the dough, you should really consider the sager route so you can still get the 7970m.
    Sager NP9170 / Clevo P170EM
configured with the i7-3610QM and the 7970m, its 1500.
