Its been about 2-3 weeks....since i got my 17x R3 ...specs in my signature...and I have played a lot of games ..on it already :D

Here is what i found for the 6870m without overclocking anything

    BF3

    High - 32 FPS
    Ultra - 25-27 FPS

    Crysis 2

    Extreme - 32 FPS

    MW3- 60 FPS or more

    BFBC2 - 30-40FPS (High)

Max Payne 3 - Everything set on high - 30-40 FPS

I am posting these since i really did not find any threads with this information .....i can even upload some videos if need be...if someone can tell me how to compress videos that come out of FRAPS ....Anyways ..i am super happy with the performance...even though you might note that the FPS is around the 30-40 mark without overclocking...gameplay is super smooth for me personally.....and lastly all of them are @ 1080p ...cant wait to hear your thoughts on this ...and GPU temps max out at 60-65C .

    Cheers!!

6870M is very similar to a 5870M, it should be sufficient for most games within the past few years, however the newest FPS will require you to drop quality or resolution.

Thanks...i had a tough time picking out benchmarks for the 6870m ...almost no one seems to have this card ....but i am happy with what i got ....atleast for now ...will consider a 6990 or 7970 in the near future.

Hello fellow 6870m owner! I am in the same boat as you. For the games that I currently play (i.e. Eve Online, TF2, Borderlands, Portal 2, Limbo) and recently played (i.e. Diablo III, Skyrim, SW:TOR) this card performs pretty well!

No need to get the latest and greatest to get good gaming I say.

Maybe later down the road, I will consider a 7970m when the NEED arises. :)

Exactly..i have no idea ...what the fuss is about .....this card is pretty capable much more than what i intially thought it would be ......and its performance is much much better than either my last alienware m14x(555m) or the MBP 15 2011 (6750m) ........i am sure the 680mzzz and 7970m of the world ...would kick this card in its a** but for me ....this card is great ...............and i dont really see myself upgrading this ..unless i get a good deal on NBR :D

Also i am surprised not many people actually own a machine with this card ....maybe thats because the next card upgrade might have been 50$ or 100$ at the time of customization ....

I got the 460m instead at the time of purchase. In hindsight i should have bought the 1080p screen, but oh well. Glad you like the card :)

Cant you upgrade to the 1080p yourself if needed ?? I have seen a few being sold on this forum ....also did you upgrade to the 6990m yourself ??? How was the process ..as in how difficult ...cause i would consider upgrading eventually
