How the hell do you update your drivers for this specific card ?
I have an Alienware m17x and I've been stuck with Dell drivers for years ... it's so outdated.

these are 13.12 WHQL Unifl specifically made for your card. steps:

1:uninstall AMD and Intel HD in control panel-> uninstall programs
2: control panel --> device manager --> display adapters --> right click and uninstall both the 6990M and the Intel HD 3000 (if they are still there)
    3: REBOOT
4: Download and extract the driver (I think you have 2nd generation intel HD graphics so the one which says --> intel HD 2000/3000. It's going to ask you that so dont spam the next button)
5: Go to the folder where it was extracted you can now choose to use the Unifl helper which is in the folder (which will guide you through the process) or you can read the readme file in there and use those instructions to manually install
    6: GOOD LUCK

Yes it will. I upgraded last saturday to 7970M but I had been using the newest drivers from Leshcatlabs.net for my M17x R3 with a 6990M for the last 2 years. (english grammar is so hard lol. Could somebody tell me which time to use here. I'm Dutch. xD)

Here is a complete guide for installing that on the m17x R3. Please keep in mind that we do not officially support this upgrade. Therefore any issues caused by this upgrade will not be covered by the warranty.

Sorry for the late reply didnt have this thread subbed :p so didn't see. It was really easy to upgrade once I got the right card (you need vbios 015.021 on R3!)

    1: 1mm pads
2: cooling paste (I use Noctua NT-H1). My personal favorite, I am the only one I feel haha.
3: Follow the guide above to the last detail
4: most cards only work in PEG mode in bios. (Mine works in SG mode). If you have to put it in PEG mode you get low brightness screen, but here is the fix. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-17-m17x/678968-7970m-dim-screen-fix-r3-sort.html
