Tried a search, couldn't find anything.

All of a sudden my GPU will not run over 100/150mhz (the idle speed). I set it to the default clocks using Sapphire Trix and that works, but I cannot get it to go back to normal operation (clocking on its own). I've tried switching IGP on/off, it works but doesn't change anything.

I thought it might be a driver issue, but all I've changed is my IDT audio driver, so went back to the original but it's still the same. I also installed the Office2010 conversion pack, but I don't see how that could be related. Also GPU observer no longer shows my clock speeds, it's like the GPU isn't there (but it is working).

Going to try a shut down, battery out, discharge and see what that does.

Happens to me sometimes too. Sometimes just unplugging and plugging back in fixes it, sometimes disabling and enabling powerplay...It's an inconsistent issue. I reinstalled drivers and it has seemed to stop. I kinda wonder if it's TriXX's fault...

I have been having strange probs recently similar. Clocks staying on one speed with out fluxuating.. aero going to basic and not going back on "Graphics card switch". So I did alot of reading and installing of different drivers and combonations.

One this I found out that was confusing was about the intel drivers. The intel drivers on the Dell site I think are only meant for nvidia systems. When you install the ATI drivers by themselves it installs a Intel driver which reads that it is published by AMD. I mention this because it was really confusing.

Also I was the type that was trying to stick with stock configs and recovery.

I finally reinstalled Windows as a clean install. So far the main trouble I have ran into regarding configurable switching / aero seems to be gone.

I will be doing more testing but I think many people out there have drivers installed wrong or their factory image has the drivers installed wrong.
Example would be, prior to this I installed the intel drivers, which then ATI drivers installed more Intel IGP software. That could cause problems.

Welp hope this helps someone.. I will be testing this fresh clean install.

You were right, power settings fixed it.
