    Hey Guys,

first of all: because of some heat issues and CCC not working correctly I did a lot of stuff regarding this. Reinstall CCC and drivers, checking temps with Trixx + HWINFO64, benchmarking with ATItool + Furmark, and so on.

Anyway, long story short: Everything is back to normal on my m17x r3 except for two things: When I start a game and / or a benchmark tool, the clocks wont change from 100/150 (the normal 2d clocks), therefore I got very low FPS. I can "overclock" to normal 3d clocks (680/900) with trixx without a problem, I got my normal FPS then in games and benchmarking tool as well. But it wont change back to the 2d clocks when I close the game / benchmark, it will stay on 680/900 until I downclock it manually with Trixx or just reboot. After a reboot it wont change the clocks from 2d to 3d again....

My problem with this is I just dont know where to look! Could Trixx or HWINFO cause this? The driver itself? Where in the system are those clocks (2d 100/150 3d 680/900) saved? BTW, I never touched the bios and wont do it now either.

My second problem I cant find a fix for: Every game / benchmark running in windowed mode (ie. Star Wars TOR (windowed fullscreen), atitool + furmark burnin-test) got low FPS. Not as low as in 100/150, because the clocks are right (after I set them manually because of problem #1...), but not as high as they should be either. In Starwars on the republic fleet I got usually ~70-90 FPS, when playing in windowed fullscreen I only have 30-45. When I change it to fullscreen the FPS go up to 70-90 again. Again, I just dont know where to look for except for random driver (re/de)installs and the like :(

Check CCC to confirm that PowerPlay is enabled and set to Max Performance when plugged in. Also set your power plan to Balanced (preferred) or High Performance. Which display drivers are you using?

This is just rediculous - activating PP in CC solved BOTH problems. Kudos to you and thanks for this answer.

First I was like "not again those generic answers, I checked everything bevor posting here" and then I was like " -___- "

BTW, I am using the 12.3 (installed them in hope that they'll fix my "windowed mode"-problem). After trying everything (ok, almost...) I deactivated PP entirly "to be 100% sure that this wont cause any of my problems". Oh well, this didnt work out so well...

Anyway, deactivating PP shouldnt cause such problems, should it? Or did I miss something? Bug or feature?

Power Play has always behaved that way on my machine (over 1 year now). I just created a hotkey in CCC so that Alt+O turns off PP and Alt+P turns it back on. Now I can quickly switch between 100/150 and 680/900 depending on what I need.

Edit: I should note, with power play my card clocks down to 250/900 when not in use, which is ok, but 100/150 idles around 35C (!) so I think it is worth it.
