so ive got a new retail m17x r3 with a 6990. i just did a freish install with win disc it came with, i had to as i installed an ssd as boot. i instaled the drivers from dell website as the ones on the resoource disk were ages old. i was getting such low scores in heaven - 11fps

so i tried to install the new 11.10 drivers and it kept saying package failrure or something, so i installed just the driver and then dlownladed the dd from here, i installed just the dd, but now when i right clock it dosent even detect my card, im just stuck with intel 3000.

bit stumped on ewhat do do, what to install, where, when, how :s i just want to see how good my 6990 is, i had this trouble with my prev 6970

Your supposed to install the STOCK dell drivers from the driver site first. Then a later one right over it.

I had a bit of a tough time with mine, I ended up completely uninstalling the AMD Catalyst software from add/remove programs, then rebooted to safe mode and ran driver sweeper and cleaned everything up for ATI - Graphics. When I got back to Windows, I installed the 11.10 driver, AMD graphics hardware not found, went to device manager, uninstalled the intel HD graphics driver, rebooted, and its working.

Oh, and I think I did disable UAC at some point in my earlier troubleshooting, as updating the driver over the factory dell driver generated a BSOD during the 11.10 install, so there was a bit of troubleshooting before I did the actual uninstall/driver sweeper cleanup, but if all other methods don't work, try what I did.

thsanks guys going to do it now, if i get rid of everything with safe mode and disable uac, if i use that link you posted there will it install the full package or just the dd. also, would it be a good idea to disable driver signing ?
