Install the dell stock drivers and then install the newer drivers over top to retain graphics card switching. Are you sure you used mobility drivers and not the desktop ones?

still no luck. I installed it and at the end I clicked finished it didnt tell me to reboot or anything. I checked it and still driver version 8.851.2.0 so I rebooted anyways and still the old driver. I just dont get what im doing wrong.

Do you have the link for 12.2 that might work. I got the 12.1 to install fine so maybe the 12.2 might work.

Anytime dude, I would catalog what you are uninstalling so you can reinstall it later. You can use either the default windows uninstaller or a third party one it doesn't matter. I would then restart and try and install the v-card drivers and see what happens. :)

    http://3dmark.com/3dmv/4045939

I was able to run 3dmark vantage again using the newest 12.4 drivers. BUT right after I restarted my computer, my resolution just looked crappy as if no drivers were installed :(

UPDATE: Here's the link to 12.4 if anyone wants to try updating it to that version. Catalyst 12.4. Here's what I did to get it updated from Stock Dell Driver

    1) Uninstall stock 6900m/6970m and Intel driver
    2) Run DriverSweeper and delete all ATI folders. Restart.
    3) Go to Device Manager and uninstall both graphics card. Restart.
    4) Install vanilla Intel HD driver from Dell (not the ones that include 69xx).
    5) Uninstall 6900m graphics from Device Manager (again). Restart.
    6) Install Catalyst 12.4

Now the problem begins here. After you restart your computer and Windows boots, your screen will turn all white!

    7) Press your power button (puts your computer to sleep)
    8) Press it again (you should see a log in screen)
    9) Go to Device Manager and disable the Intel Graphics (not uninstall)

There you go. You're now using the latest driver (though I havent tried playing games with it. I dont have any installed yet since I just got the laptop today. Seems to run 3dmark well though).

    10) Enable Intel Graphics before you shut down your computer otherwise you'd go straight to crappy graphics (as if the 6990m didnt have any driver) Repeat steps 7-9.

I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this, but I'm quite happy just to get the latest driver running.

I havent installed or connected any logitech on my laptop. Sorry I havent been answering your questions I'm too bugged down by this driver update lol

don't install those intel drivers, install the 6990m Mobilty drivers(from dell) and then 12.4 and you should be good to go. :D

I started from scratch. I used the 6990m driver from dell like you said and I dont get the white screen anymore. :)

    *restart whenever asked
    1) Uninstall drivers from both graphics (AMD uninstall, drivercleaner, device manager uninstall)
    2) Installed 6990m dell driver
    3) Installed Catalyst 12.4. Got a BSOD during installation, but it looks like I have the latest driver installed.

Though the problem now is I can't open the Catalyst Control Center. Trying to install 12.4 again but just the CCC.
Benchmark. Surprisingly my benchmark keeps getting better

hmm strange. If 12.4 keeps giving you issues use 12.3 as I know it works perfect. That's what I'm running now. :p

Now I'm getting BSODs during Windows boot-up after installing 12.4 CCC. Looks like I may have to hold off until tomorrow night after work to fix this. Running Windows repair right now. If this doesnt work, I'm gonna try uninstalling Stock 6690m (but not the Intel HD) instead of just overwriting it with 12.4. Someone has to eventually figure [installing 12.4] out :D (me me !! *cross finger :D ) If that doesnt work then I will try 12.3.

UPDATE: Windows repair failed and I still get BSODs during startup. sad sad face

You don't need the igpu drivers as they are included in the dell 6990m drivers. That might be causing your issue idk.

I did a clean install on my laptop and tried installing the drivers again (both 12.4 and stock 6990m), still no good. I went to try my previous method and got the same results. I think I will stick with the white screen issue for now, at least the quick fix isnt not too much of a hassle and I get to use the latest driver. I just want to play games already :D

If I experience any crash in-game I will update this thread.

    Thanks again for the help!

Could you post the link please? I've been searching for ages. :(

Never going to bother with Alienware again after this. Too much hassle to get proper drivers.

Here is the forum where I found it. I think I may have gotten a BSOD on the first try (though that mightve been a different driver that I downloaded elsewhere)

I know what you mean. I think I spent a total of 36 hours installing/reinstalling and figuring out where and how to get my drivers updated. Dell customer service and website is just so bad most of the links for basic drivers arent even working.
