Do you have the link for 12.2 that might work. I got the 12.1 to install fine so maybe the 12.2 might work. -

I use mostly razer gear so its not a problem for me, but it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Hi bigtonyman,
Lol I shouldve just posted here instead of PMing you. I'm having the exact same problemI couldnt update using the links you gave me and my 3dmark score is pretty bad compared to yours. Definitely due to old drivers.

PM'ed you some ways to try to fix it.
Edit: here is my first run with my 6990m when I first got it installed. Looks not far off from your score.

AMD Radeon HD 6970M / 6990M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor,Alienware M17xR3 score: P14380 3DMarks
I was able to run 3dmark vantage using 12.4 8.891... something driver. BUT right after I restarted my computer, my resolution just looked crappy as if no drivers were installed -

I was able to run 3dmark vantage again using the newest 12.4 drivers. BUT right after I restarted my computer, my resolution just looked crappy as if no drivers were installed
UPDATE: Here's the link to 12.4 if anyone wants to try updating it to that version. Catalyst 12.4. Here's what I did to get it updated from Stock Dell Driver
1) Uninstall stock 6900m/6970m and Intel driver
2) Run DriverSweeper and delete all ATI folders. Restart.
3) Go to Device Manager and uninstall both graphics card. Restart.
4) Install vanilla Intel HD driver from Dell (not the ones that include 69xx).
5) Uninstall 6900m graphics from Device Manager (again). Restart.
6) Install Catalyst 12.4
Now the problem begins here. After you restart your computer and Windows boots, your screen will turn all white!
7) Press your power button (puts your computer to sleep)
8) Press it again (you should see a log in screen)
9) Go to Device Manager and disable the Intel Graphics (not uninstall)
There you go. You're now using the latest driver (though I havent tried playing games with it. I dont have any installed yet since I just got the laptop today. Seems to run 3dmark well though).
10) Enable Intel Graphics before you shut down your computer otherwise you'd go straight to crappy graphics (as if the 6990m didnt have any driver) Repeat steps 7-9.
I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this, but I'm quite happy just to get the latest driver running.

don't install those intel drivers, install the 6990m Mobilty drivers(from dell) and then 12.4 and you should be good to go. -
*restart whenever asked
1) Uninstall drivers from both graphics (AMD uninstall, drivercleaner, device manager uninstall)
2) Installed 6990m dell driver
3) Installed Catalyst 12.4. Got a BSOD during installation, but it looks like I have the latest driver installed.
Though the problem now is I can't open the Catalyst Control Center. Trying to install 12.4 again but just the CCC.
Benchmark. Surprisingly my benchmark keeps getting better -

hmm strange. If 12.4 keeps giving you issues use 12.3 as I know it works perfect. That's what I'm running now.

(me me !! *cross finger
) If that doesnt work then I will try 12.3.
UPDATE: Windows repair failed and I still get BSODs during startup. sad sad face -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
You don't need the igpu drivers as they are included in the dell 6990m drivers. That might be causing your issue idk.

Yay I'm finally able to get the latest one installed. The one posted above didnt work but I was able to find another one from a different thread that works

Never going to bother with Alienware again after this. Too much hassle to get proper drivers. -
I know what you mean. I think I spent a total of 36 hours installing/reinstalling and figuring out where and how to get my drivers updated. Dell customer service and website is just so bad most of the links for basic drivers arent even working. -
go to:
AMD Driver Autodetect
And detect - install, if u need an update?Easy
6990M Driver update please help.....
