I'd like to monitor my GPU temps. I can't seem to find anything that has a gadget to work with though. I can use HWMONITOR64, but can't get the gadget to recognize my card. I'm running 12.3 drivers.

another way is to run furmark. It will give you your min\max and chart your temps over time during the stress test
-
I think i used gpu observer before, not sure if it's compatible with the 6990m though
-
Use Sapphire Trixx Utility. It will give you a perfect monitor that will load up on start up and it can also be used for overclocking. All those others named dont work for the 6990m. It wont read it.

This is what I've been using, but overclocking usually locks up my machine is I was looking for another utility. I guess I can use it for that purpose only though. -
I use AIDA64 (not free) for more than a year. It has a gadget and it can be kept on the side of your screen (background) monitoring anything you wish for: CPU, Memory, GPU, Battery etc.

hmmm.....have you tried to uninstall it and reinstall it? How high are you overclocking?
When I do overclock, which I only do for certain games; I only put it at 820/1100. You might be overclocking too high. If not, then try to find another program. Should work though. -

I was going 800/1175 and it would completely lock the system up or give me a out of memory error.
I actually ran it last night while playing bf3 at 800 core clock and left the memory clock alone and it ran fine for an hour. My temp didn't seem to raise too much which kind of concerned me. It was at or around 60C the whole time which makes me questions it's reliability. -

On my original post, I misspoke when I said I was using hwmonitor64, I meant I was using hwinfo64. I can get it to work unless I try to use the gadget. For some reason it doesn't work. Since I'm running 2 monitors, I suppose I could just leave the sensor page up and running.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -

Jwim, you might want to lower your vram down to say 1050 and try again. Not all 6990's can go that high on the ram. Usually the dell ones can, but the ones used by sager, can usually only go to about 1050 -

I ordered and received new thermal paste. Once I get that applied I'll start messing with it again. Thanks for the tip! -

hmm ill have to install it later. Do you just install over the old drivers? -
Yup, always. Just tested them, best catalyst so far. The driver is the same as the previous 8.96, however the CCC has been updated as well as a few other components. Highly recommended!
I don't understand why people have so many problems updating, it's almost effortless. I get a BSOD sometimes, restarting and trying again ALWAYS works.
Btw the clocks in my sig are my permanent clocks, gaming on them is flawless.

I've been tweaking the numbers and the absolute highest I can get is 800/1000. Anything else will lock up the screen. My temps are usually below 70c with core #3 being the highest using gpu-z to montior and trixx to OC.
