    6990M thermal pad

    If any of you guys have a 6990M, is there supposed to be a strip of thermal pad on the back next to the backplate about almost the length of the card and about 1.5" wide.Thank you

    When I was replacing my 6870M with my 6990M, I just re-used all pads, including the massive one on the back next to the backplate. I think it's so there is no contact with the motherboard

    The 6990m should not have the extra rectangular piece. That backplate is made for the nvidia cards.

    Actually, I don't think so. Dell AMD cards have black/brown PCB's. I think that is a 460m GTX. I have changed GPU's so many times for my R3 and M15x that I'm more than 50% certain that is a nvidia card.

    The 6990M that came with my R3 does not have the rectangular addition to the backplate; the 580M backplate does.

    Dell's are black and Eurocom's are cyan.
