Hi guys! my good friend can get a beta version of the BIOS (not the publication of officially) for alienvare m17x r1.on argues that there is support for cards 6970 and 6990, and it is possible but not exactly 7970, about the Nvidia card is not known, but it is necessary to collect about 500-600 $ to get this bios. I love my r1 but since I live in Ukraine, it is too expensive for me, if 100 people want this bios, it would cost $ 5-6 each and it's not so much

So why would it cost 500 for a bios... is this a system bios or video bios. Also are you referring to the R1 that runs the GTX 260M up to to 280m with the QX9300...

Yea, your probably not going to get them money. Sounds like somone is trying to rip you off. Good luck finding 100 active R1 owners here that are willing to send you money. Especially since your only post on the forum is asking people for money

I think the system BIOS. value assigned is not for me or not for my friend, and unknown to me the source. where did the leak! I think 500 for risk or for uniqueness. in general as I understand it is the system BIOS in the beta, I think it is not published because of marketing, because qx9300 not much inferior to the first generation i7

So some dude has a system BIOS for the R1 that would enable the 2009 model m17x to run the 6990m... and he has not provided any proof of this unless you give him 500 dollars, dude are you crazy thinking anyone would donate money for something that should be free in the first place, provide proof and reliable sources, then maybe ppl might listen.

...What does marketing have to do with it?

This BIOS is not made public, its development stopped because of the model output r2! I have no evidence to yet, so let each one decides for himself, he is willing to spend $ 5 or not

the only thing I can say for sure that before purchased through this source of beta firmware for developers to sony erricson yari u100, then it cost me nearly $ 200 (2010)

marketing approach is that the model 2009 can support 6990 but will not, because the developers are not profitable. who would buy r2 then?

R2 was a lot better than the R1. Chances are the R1 beta bios still has issues with latency. And to be honest, I would just give my buddies a ring over at bios-mods.com to hack the bios vs. spending $500 For 1, the R1 model is outdated, 2 the R2 model was much better, and 3, your better off selling the R1 and putting the money towards a new system. Better route than buying GPUs that are worth as much as the R1 itself. And the 920XM walks all over a QX9300.

With the little and vauge, unreliable information (some guy) you've provided, your going to be hard pressed to find a single person willing to send money to whoever...If you want money, you gotta do better.

I've seen the R2 running these cards and even nVidia 670m, I don't think people would just spend their money on this since most of the time it is just released as freeware. At the techinferno forums I've seen most of those BIOS tweaks, perhaps you should look there :p
