    Hi Guys,
I updated to win 8.1 rtm yesterday, but the driver doesn't seems to work. After install the preview driver (13.15.1 or 13.8 beta2) it works fine until a reboot. Now I just get a "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Reversed the driver to what comes with win 8.1 rtm, the 9.12.8, same problem, worked fine until reboot . Any idea on how to solve this? Thank you.

    Hi!

    Could you try these steps:
    1. Disable automatic update of drivers (via Win+X, System, link Advanced, tab Devices (or hardware), second (bottom) button (setup), choose "no, let me choose", "never install"
    2. Delete any drivers in device manager by selecting AMD video card, right click, properties, tab "driver", button "delete", mark "delete drivers", "ok". repeat until it can't find suitable driver. Use menu Actions->Refresh/reload device configuration to update devices.
    3. Install old one driver: Driver Details | Dell US
    4. Enable automatic update of drivers (via Win+X, System, link Advanced, tab Devices (or hardware), second (bottom) button (setup), choose "yes, automatically"

Now you can install newer driver from AMD and all the things must work.

If you can't install driver, you can try "have disk method".

Also, if you have time to research, you can use newer driver: Driver Details | Dell US
    But it has issues:
    1. While on AMD - brightness control is not working (but works on intel GPU).
    2. While on Intel - flash fails on first time after boot, crashing browser/metro app/Skype causing you to restart it.

I'd just wait for the final release in october man. Then there will probably be a stable driver that will work fine. I'm on the latest 13.8 beta or whatever and haven't had a single problem with just 8.

Thank you man. Followed your steps the original driver goes fine, but when I tried to upgrade to newer drivers I got black screen and after reboot system cannot detect 6990m any more. I guess I'll just wait for a legit driver and do a clean install after that. Thanks for help man.

I assumed that driver for 8.1 preview works fine with RTM. Looks like I was wrong. :D
