Hello all quick question I have been reading these forums and see two ways people instal drivers...

should I do it like I do on my desktop

express uninstall AMD drivers, reboot into safemode run driversweeper for AMD, reboot and install newest CCC

or from what I also seen here is

express uninstall AMD drivers, reboot into safemode run driversweeper for AMD, reboot and install dells most recent drivers then ontop them newest CCC?

If the answer is option 2 then my question is why that way? is it to get the switchable graphics to work ?

What happens if you do it method 1?

thanx for the advice as always and helpfulness here.....so used to my desktop lol

Both of method that you mentioned still not guarrante that you will have a smooth driver Installing (BSOD, Switchable graphic doesn't work, etc). You must try it by yourself. Based on my experience, most people here have their own way for updating the driver. Because the problem is different for each system. Even is the same model.

The 1st method seems the most effective way and reccomended by most member here.... I suggest you try the direct update method first, without uninstalling the old driver. Just hope you can install it using the easy way.... :D some member here worked on that way. if it failed, then you can try the 1st & 2nd method. No matter what method that you use, you will remove your old driver. So, let see if you're lucky enough like some lucky member here for updating the driver using the easiest way..... :D

I didn't want to start a new thread so I posted here, I hope MontyQ dosen't mind.

My question is can I install updtae versions that say CAP1 or WHQL. I know most of you have installed WHQL. Are they any safer than the regular updates found on Amd site?

Stray, you can install any beta or preview driver taht you want. I normally do..and i know that the 12.2 preview drivers were better for most people than the 12.2 WHQL

Slick I installed the 12.2 preview drivers over the latest stock Dell drivers. It blue screened once, restarted and reinstalled. Went fine except I got a popup saying something about the driver. Should I be ok?

Rem, you should be ok. Run GPUz to see if the card is recognized and driver version is updated and you can check your device manager to make sure you don't have any yellow exclamation marks

Then run a game or some benchmarks

Slick all seems well. 3D mark vantage and 3D Mark06 ran without a hitch. Just started playing Crysis Warhead. Seems great.
