hi Guys i got a problem ... since yesterday my m17x r3 shuts down after ~10 min of playing bf 3

i ran furmark all other temps except MemIO are ok
at stock clocks i get w/o notebookcooler (i dont have a notebookcooler)
max 68°C GPU Thermal Diode and DispIO
    73°C Shader
    but MemIO 108°C after 2-3 Min :(

Last Month it was only 70-73°C

Why that ? Can some1 explain me, what happend or what could be the reason why my MemIO temp is getting that high all of sudden? i have installed 12.1 since i think 2 days ago

at idle i got w/o notebookcooler
    GPU Thermal Diode 41°C
    DispIO 41°C
    MemIO 40,5°C
    Shader 43°C

is this a bug? any suggestions what the reason could be, would be helpful.

zodrac, is it only on this game this happens or all games.

the MemIO is the GPU's integrated memory controller located on the GPu die. I would definitely reseat your heatsink and repaste. Try to keep the heatsink as flat as possible by following the 1-2-3-4 numbers that form an X

yep in all games that needs a lot of gpu power. games like guild wars or league of legends "just reach 95°C @ MemIO" ... well after that it seems that my 6990m died

my notebook boot and did some beeps at the beginning (i think 8 beeps).

even though i dont want to do that but i got a "spare" 6990m. (i wanted to give this as a christmas present to my girlfriend for her m17x r3 with a 6870m -.-) i hope she like the other present i ordered for her ... a pink stethoscope with her name on it

now the temps are even better than before lol

at stock clocks furmark @ 15 min
    GPU Thermal Diode 66°C
    DispIO 66°C
    MemIO 68°C
    Shader 71°C

well maybe i gonna buy her a 580m + heatsink ... but i dont think this gonna arrive before christmas :-/

@SlickDude80 thanks for your help rep +1 ... maybe i should have repasted it before i tested all those games :(

I assume it's still under the standard 1 year warranty at least. I would give dell a call and see if they will replace it for you ;)

You should have opened it up and checked gpu heatsink. I bet screws were loose.
