Well, I just got my M17x on Saturday and I've been fiddling around with it. Today I started up Bad Company 2 with Fraps opened and it was showing under 30fps on "high" settings at 1920x1080 in singleplayer and under 20fps in multiplayer. This seemed like very low fps for the 6990m, so I was wondering if this is normal, or it could be a driver issue, or anything else.

Hmm, that seems very low. I usually get about 50-60 FPS, with a drop into the 40-45s when a lot is going on but never lower then that while playing online. Make sure your not in stealth mode maybe? Is BF:BC2 the only game that you are getting low FPS in?

Well, now I'm getting around under 50fps with all "high" settings and 4x AA. How is that compared to what you guys are getting?

That sound pretty good to me. I had a 6990m, that was similar to what I was getting :)

I have the same alienware with the same issue, please help. What did you do to get it to work, I reformatted and reinstalled windows last time and that worked, what fixed it for you?

Ummmmm I have an r2 with the dual 5870m's and I get more like 65+fps.

Are you guys running hot with those fancy 6990m's?

Also, are you talking about in multiplayer of the campaign? I dont play the multiplayer and I seem to remember people saying it was significantly different in MP.

I had the same problem with games not performing properly when i first got my 17x-r3 with the 6990m.
Turns out the problem was battery related, and the 6990 was just fine.

Make sure you dont have a message when you booted up saying that "the battery wattage could not be determined" or something to that effect.
