I just noticed that my win7 index score is now 6.1 for disc performance, up .2 from 5.9 in my previous R2 and R1 with identical specifications as far as drives go. Anyone else with RAID 0 7200RPM drives get this updated number? Makes me wana look under the hood to see if Dell has used something other than the seagates I got previously.
-
Nope.
Just re-ran, and mine still says 5.9.
Oh well, maybe I need to defrag, or something. -
had 7% frag when I ran the test, Matrix storage manager wouldn't affect the score would it?
seem to be the same seagate monumentus 7200.4 drives, is that what you have? -
I read somewhere on the site the mechanical drivers only rate 5.9 at the highest.
-
that's what I thought. I'm consistently getting a 6.1 however.

latest updates and windows 7 professional? In either case, interesting indeed. Beyond CF 5870s this laptop is identical to my 4870, weird, but in a good way I suppose. I'll do some HDtach benches tomorrow so we can compare and see if it's a real improvement or just superficial.

I have the single, and the 720qm. It may make a difference.
It is weird, I'm running home premium, with the latest drivers.
Still, I don't put too much into the WEI. -
Nor do I, just found it interesting, a few goggling found that several system preferences can change the disc score. I received a 5.9 with my RAID array my last 2 computers, maybe dell did something different this time.

I'll let you know what I score when I get mine in 7 days
-
turned off all startup apps, still scored 6.1
-
Lozz,
When you set up your RAID array, what size stripe did you select.
I set mine at the default 128 KB. -
mine is 128kb as well, as set by Dell. I ran some hdd benchmarks that i will post tomorrow so we can compare
-
Here's HDtach and ATTO. Seems to be approximately better than a single 7200.4 from the review I've seen.
