I have a 680M in at the moment but I'm looking to downgrade.

    Can it be done?

why would you do such a thing???????? but yes I'm pretty sure it can be done. You will probably lose the ability to use optimus though.

680M is overkill for what I do these days. I find that I have less and less time to play games so I figured a downgrade would be best until I needed a powerful GPU again/

Why would I lose Optimus though? From what I read, the 7xx series supports Optimus unless in SLI?

But, but, but... why would you need to downgrade? Are you planning on selling it (the GPU) or something?

The 680M does hold its value and the 765M would be cheaper but the saving is not huge, you may want to completely sell up and move to a different purpose system and then save if you want another system.
