Really curious to see if this works. If it does, you can snag one for $350 off fleabay and laugh to the bank.![]()
I can't see myself coughing up the dough to buy a 680M just to be outshined by the 780M for $100 more. >_< And since the 675MX is nowhere to be seen anymore, sad about this, the 770M will have to do... >w>
Anyone know if that upgrade works? I know the 780M does...

If it's the R3 in your signature, why not just settle with a 680M? It's not that much slower than a 780M and it's cheaper. 675MX is weaker than a 680M by ~10-15%. Adunno if 670MX is any cheaper, 770M performance is basically the same.

But the 770M can be had for $350 and the 680M can be had for $600. I dunno... I'm just looking for the cheapest option available... mostly due to me needing the Nvidia heatsink for this machine. That's another $100 for a new one... >w>

, the xbracket (comes in the upgrade kit usually) is different + pad placement. I've seen a 680m cheaper than $600 from a previous thread maybe $400. I think the 680m is better stock than the 770m too. Didnt know the 770m is a 75W card :O

Seems like it's a mixed bag. One guy went through alot of hassle to find out it did not work for his machine, another user on the last page installed the 770M with no issue, so it's really up to you.reborn2003 likes this. -

680m is better than the 770m, but if the budget is a problem you may want to consider loosing some performance and saving the money. Any of the 2 upgrades aren't officially supported in the platform so you will need custom INF's to install the drivers.

Hmm.... perhaps the 680M will be the better option after all... Oh well. Now I just have to find a 680M that isn't monstrously overpriced... everyone still wants top dollar for their GPU...

It's worth that much more than the 770m performance wise and is oh so tweakable.

The only thing that's really holding the 680M back is the horridly low memory bandwidth. The clock speed matters so little at that moment that it's almost comical. That's all I'd care about...

Then clock the memory up to 1300ish levels.
770M in an R3?
