So, everytime I do an install of the latest Enduro drivers - after the first restart everything works fine. I get 6600 on 3dmark 2011, all my games play flawlessly etc.

After the second restart however, the performance is cut in half. My 3dmark 2011 score falls down to 3000s, and I have severe FPS issues on all games.

Has anyone run into this problem? Can someone help?

And another restart seemed to have fixed it. Is this a common occurrence with the latest Enduro performance drivers?

Looks like this tends to happen at random.

For some restarts, everything works normally. For others, my 3d performance is cut in half (almost exactly half for some very odd reason).

Anyone else having issues with the latest drivers for 7970m?

    Hello,

I'm currently experiencing the exactly the same issue with the 12.11p drivers but in my case, it is during the 3rd+ run. Intel Graphics is disabled along with ULPS in the registry. Using GPU-Z, I can see that the GPU is using the 2d clocks e.g 300 and 450, not sure why is this happening. Gaming is okay but 3dMark fps are dropping. I even tried reverting to 12.10 but this did not fix the issue. Currently, I'm looking to try the modded drivers that SlickDude used in his original thread, will try to provide an update.

    Regards,
    Mark

Try a different driver or the DELL provided ones.

    Update:

I did a reformat and made a system image just before installing the Catalyst drivers.

Made a few changes in the BIOS -> Advanced (2nd) -> Video Configuration -> PCI Express Graphic:
ASPM (Active State Power Management) - Disabled
    PEG Workaround - Enabled
    Always Enable PEG - Enabled

Then installed the 12.7 Beta Driver Mentioned on Slick's thread, MSI AB 2.2.1 and disabled ULPS in registry. In the MSI AB cfg, set the UnofficialOverclockingMod = 2. I read in a thread that this prevents powerplay from interfering?!

Was able to do several 3dMark 11 and Vantage runs without the fps drop:
    12.7 Beta @ Stock P5697
    12.7 Beta 2960xm @ 4Ghz and 7970m @ 910/1325 P6295

    I reloaded the system image...

Then installed the 12.11 Beta 11 7900MOD ULPS off and MSI AB 2.2.1. In the MSI AB cfg, set the UnofficialOverclockingMod = 2.

Successive 3dMark 11 tests were great, but in Vantage there were fps drop in Jane Nash test. Still the same behavior, clocks were reverting to 300Core and 150Mem (600Mhz) so what I did was to create a profile in MSI Afterburner just to override the 2d clocks. Also enabled AMD Overdrive in CCC by adding -xcl in AB and restarting it.
    AB with XCL.png

Overdrive should now be in your CCC (you can now remove the xcl in MSI AB).
The first profile - Core @ 851 Mem @ 1201 , the reason for this is that the sliders would still show a 300 and 150 for core and memory respectively if you use 850 and 1200.
    AB + CCC.png
Notice that the minimum of the slider is what you have set in your clock

    second profile - Core @ 425 Mem @ 150
third profile - your OC profile

Here is a screenshot from GPU-z to show that the clocks stay at 851/1201 even without load GPUZ.png
    And here are benchmark results:

    12.11 Beta 11 @ Stock P6554
    12.11 Beta 11 2960xm @ 4Ghz and 7970m @ 910/1325 P7011
    Vantage @851/1201 2960xm + 7970m 12.11.jpg

This might just be a workaround, but setting the profiles before you game will help increase the fps, although I did not have the same problem while gaming :)

    Hope this helps,
    Mark
