I edited the files in slick's guide before the new amd drivers came out, slide still stuck. I then downloaded the amd drivers in hope that it would allow over clocking. Still no go. :(

I had the same problem and in my case I was able to fix it by installing the latest version of MSI Afterburner.

were you able to get OC to work with previous drivers?

I'm on 12.7 beta and OC works fine.

One thing to check is your MSIAfterburner.cfg file: make sure it saved as a CFG and NOT TXT. Also make sure that there are no duplicate files in the folder

Then go back and double check all the settings in the registry and the .cfg file itself

That might work. If not, you might have to open it, save as, change file type from text to all types, then name the file MSIAfterburner.cfg then save

I don't know how much this helps, but I had the same problem as you do now. Here's what I did - I have the stock hdd with win7 on it, and an ssd where I reinstalled windows and this is my primary drive. I first attempted OC on this windows ('ssd-windows') and, to the best of my knowledge, did everything right - registry keys were edited, file was saved as .cfg ... it still didn't work for me. I was baffled. Rebooting didn't help.

I then attempted the same procedure on my 'stock-windows' and actually ran the afterburner exe off of my other (ssd) installation. OCing worked. Now I was really baffled. When I rebooted into my SSD-windows, OCing was now working, magically. Beats me how this happened.

My best bet is, reinstall Afterburner and your drivers, attempt the registry/cfg editing again, reboot a couple of times and run on your dedicated card (the 7970m) using fn+f7, then attempt the OCing. To the best of my knowledge, it has to work. But then again, who am I to say anything - I pretty much fluked the whole process on my R4 one way or the other :p
