I bought a m17x r4 last summer around June and it was fine for the first 5months then suddenly it's not working at all when it comes to gaming. If i open a game like CS:GO get 200fps on max then it jumps down to 70 - 80 for about 15seconds then back up and down like a yo-yo. (this applies for all games like LoL).

I'm not sure what to do as it's been a glorified macbook for a few months now, just awful.

I've tried almost everything tons of different driver versions (with the help of driver fusion), Power plans, Intel HD 4000 drivers and so on, I've also tried the new AMD drivers and were getting pretty much the right 3DMark scores and temps i should be getting.

    Specs
    3630qm
    7970M
    12gb ram
    typical samsung ssd+hdd combo

I know the 7970m is plagued with problems but there seem to be many who get it working just fine. any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would say your card is fine, but it is Throttling. It might be CPU as well.
Check your temperatures during gaming please.

What program are you using to check the temps? Would be a good idea to try some of the solutions in this article.

I was using MSI afterburner and speedfan, i've just reformatted it and still the same issue.
The laptops pretty spotless inside nothing looks like it's overheating.

I have over 2years left of my warranty maybe i should just get a tech out an pray he can fix or replace it.

Also does anyone know where i stand on my keyboard against warranty, i got it as a cancelled order but bought it through a 3rd party and the bottom half of my keypad is stiff and don't always come back up. ( i have warranty till jul 2016)

Had a Dell Tech run the benchmark via screenshare noticed it was hitting 100degrees but game fps was dropping after 2seconds and he was baffled.

They're sending out a tech to replace the 7970m + heatsink and a new keyboard due to an error with mine. Here's hoping all that'll fix it!
