Well I was getting amazing framerates before all this... Then I turned on the Crysis Warhead and all the settings have been the same in Catalyst manager, and got crappy framerates.. I thought my screen wasn't sharp this whole time, but the framerates were really bad for some reason this time. I didn't pay attention the graphics until I reset the game, but something about it had this really amazing color and clarity and i was like woah.. no wonder why the fps are around 18-23. Then I reset the catalyst manager and put it back to the same settings, and i am now realizing i am getting crappy graphics but good framerates 45-50+ back to what I was something I wouldn't have noticed without this happening. What is going on?

For example: stuff doesn't look as sharp, rocks dont look as good, ground doesn't look as good, that nice looking filter on warhead seems a bit stripped. also when i walk on the beach stuff looks blurry in the distance maybe by about 20 feet and you see stuff appear on the ground like sticks and the crabs fade in. maybe it's an amd optimization thing, but everyone else's doing this?

It could be mipmap level setted on Performance instead of Quality. Also anisotropic filtering will make distant detail sharper.

The 7970M is a GTX 570 in every way. You should be able to turn up the settings to the maximum and play with 40 FPS easy.

I would make sure that you're in high performance mode for your machine otherwise you're bottlenecking yourself. :p

This is for Warhead same applied, 8x, everything set to Enthusiast. Just the settings in the Catalyst Manager are turned almost off and set to: let game decide:

Don't forget that Crysis 1 engine is probably the worst engine ever in term of optimisation ...

That game is like 5 years old, and still need a beast to play at REAL ultra settings. Even on High end PC that came out 4 years after the game ( my old G74 ) , the game wasn't 100% smooth ...

That looks sweet. But what setting do you think I should use? I have a 3610, and the 7970m of course.

    LVL-1 = VERY-LOW (For 'Low-end' PC.) [CPU]x1 [RAM]1GB Min [GPU]8600/8500 256MB and up.
    LVL-2 = LOW (For 'Slow' Gaming-PC's.) [CPU]x2 [RAM]1GB [GPU]8800GT 256-320MB, 7950GT & up
    LVL-3 = MEDIUM (For'Good' Gaming-PC.) [CPU]x2 [RAM]2GB & up [GPU]8800GT/GTS [old]320-640MB
    LVL-4 = HIGH (For 'Great' Gaming-PC.) [CPU]x2-x4 [RAM]2GB & up [GPU]8800GT/GTS [g92]512 & up
    LVL-5 = HIGH+(For 'Great' Gaming-PC.) [CPU]x2-x4 [RAM]2GB & up [GPU]8800GT/GTS [g92]512 & up
    LVL-6 = VERYHIGH (FOR FUTURE Gaming PCs)[CPU]x2-4 [RAM]2GB-4 & up [GPU]8800Ultra & up.

It's a massive post but there are versions for Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Lvl 5 should work flawlessly, but if you're feeling adventurous try Lvl 6 and report back! Last time I played on a GTX 580M, and Lvl 6 looked strange, but Lvl 5 was perfect.

Lvl 5 is basically in-game maxed settings with better visuals AND more FPS. :)
