    Hi all!

    I've got an Alienware 17, 880m 8gb, 120hz screen, windows 8.1.

    It's time to upgrade the card. I'm planning to buy a 980m 8gb from @woodzstack .

Can you tell me the diffrence between svl7 vbios and prema vbios? Which one should I take? How much will I gain on 3dmark 11 and firestrike with stock and OC?

What about the vbios which come with @woodzstack cards?

    Also I don't want the card run over 85 ° C.

If I recall, prema's has the voltage increased at the minimum and maximum, and svl7's has it increased at the max, when in turbo.(Or is it vice versa?) Our's just small tweaks to keep it stable for the platforms it's flashed for, in the majority of situations. Kind of like we're all trying to get the most performance out of the cards, but difference ways, though similar.

I always tell people 9500+ on the Graphics score for a standard firestrike itself, it the starting point, stock. That's what I feel is the average. I've seen as low as 7500 in crippled systems without power, and as high as 13,000 in crazy overclocked systems, with no guarantee they game that way.

    Hope that helps ! @XGIII

will also note, I think you will get a higher score in windows 8 or 10 artificially, and because your using a digital video connection to the card instead of like the standard lcds and such, because of the 120hz screen etc.. you should also get a bit higher. So in your case I expect 10,500+ on a stock vbios for the GPU itself when overclocking as a start.

when overclocking... thats an estimate at where it should start, i.e like 10%-15% OC...if your scores do not increase when your overclocking then you have limitting factors, which is very common. If your thinking of overclocking, consider this : the people who do it all the time have tricks they do and techniques they know, which might not be practical in everyday use.
