    Hey guys

So I got my replacement 980m from Eurocom...

This is what I did step by step:

    In Win8.1:

1- Run DDU in safe mode -> Shutdown
    2- Replace 880 with 980m
3- Turn on. GPU detected in BIOS and showing as basic display adapter in windows.
4- Mod latest 361.75 drivers. Restart with DSE turned off. Install drivers. No issues so far.
5- Reboot. Bam. Black screen when I should get a windows login screen... Mouse cursor flickering.

    Am I doomed?

I will try installing now the 359.06 which are the last drivers I was using before my first 980m died...

Can anyone here help? What could possibly be the problem now?

By the way I tried linking my laptop using HDMI to my TV, and got the same black screen.

    Edit:
Black screen again with 359.06... I even flashed to prema 1.1.1.
Again strange figures showing in gpuz prior to rebooting... 980m and even clocks showing properly. But memory shows as 3GB...........

Woodzstack told me many people have faced black screens on the latest drivers and even recommended i revert back to stock vbios as prema's isn't compatible with the last 2 drivers it seems....

Well I initially did my tests on the vbios that came with the card and on 3 different drivers so I am really unsure about why the situation is different than when I got my first 980m...

Can anyone at all help me with this?

One more very important thing, once i get a black screen, the only way i am able to log in to windows is by unseating the 980m... This is obviously very very annoying and i don't want to waste all my gelid paste! Can someone give some other trick to avoid this?

prema has already released the v2 vbios for the 980M and it works with the 361.xx drivers. flash it - works here.

Great news! Will try them tonight.

But I am still worried about the 3GB ram showing in gpuz and the black screen I was getting on the 359 drivers that worked perfectly on my previous card....

Anyway will try the new prema vbios and update you guys later

Still didn't work... Hwinfo shows 1GB before reboot....

Woodzstack strongly advised that eurocom tests and retests the gpus before selling them. I just don't understand what's going on here. The last RMA cost me $100 in shipping fees...

I am actually going to try dedicated mode right now in case that changes anything. Then I am also going to do a clean install of windows in case DDU isn't doing its job properly...

   :spinny: :spinny: :twitchy:

    IT WORKED!

Frickin Optimus was acting up! Dedicated worked right away without a need for restart! I did reboot of course to make sure, everything working fine! RAM was just some glitch, it now shows properly as 8GB!

    361.75 drivers installed properly now!

glad it worked out. 8.1 i think is best for laptops with 60hz panels....would still prefer it over win 10 even though it seems to have stabilized.
