I am very close to pulling the trigger on a new M17x R3 but I have a few questions which I hope some folks around here can answer for me. In my experience, talking to the folks at Dell sales is an exercise in frustration, this forum seems like the best place to get some answers.

Regarding the screen, I know I want FHD, is there any improvement in image quality with the 120Hz screen -vs- the 60Hz screen? I have no desire to wear 3D glasses for the 3D functionality, but I will pay more for a better image quality.

How does the 1080p screen look? I have read few comments regarding the reduction in screen quality between the R2 and the R3. Any insight is appreciated.

Does anyone think the nVidia GTX 485M will be an option, or anytime in the foreseeable future?

I'll likely go with the ATI Radeon HD 6970m. The website talks about the graphics switching to IGP for low power use and mentions Optimus which I know is an nVidia technology. Is there a similar capability in place for the ATI card?

    Thanks in advance folks.

My first r3 had the 120 screen, my new one has the 60......i really cant see a difference to be honest.

The 6970 also has the intagrated intel card.... when you go to battery, you get a warning saying you can save power by switching to the intel.....press F7 and bam, lower power card

Thanks Steve1ddd, that's just the sort of feedback I was looking for!

I went ahead and bought AW17x R3 today. Estimate ship date 04/07/2011.
