    Hey guys,
a week ago i finally ordered the M17x with the HD 7970M GPU and i'd like to ask if the card is 3D capable, because i'm also about to buy a new TV to hook the M17x into and can't decide whether to buy a 3D ready TV or a normal 2D LED TV .

The 7970M is not 3D capable. But still a 3D ready TV is always a nice addition =P

    Sorry let me rephrase :p

If you got a M17x r4 with a AMD 7970M GPU, the laptop won't have the Nvidia Internal emitter. Therefore, unless you buy an external emitter, it wouldn't be able to reproduce 3D.

On the other hand, a 3D ready TV should have an emitter, what I'm not sure of is if the card will be able to use that emitter. To be honest, we haven't had any 3D tests with AMD cards so far.

You would need an internal 120Hz LCD for that

It definitely is. Samsung is releasing a version of their gamer 7 series that has one. Some day.... I think when AMD actually has a production worthy driver that supports all features of their new chip stably.

I thought so too. But the IZ3D driver allowed for Max Payne 3 to be rendered and displayed in 3D. It was as easy as that.

Could you give a link to that driver? And you really don't need a stereoscopic screen?

He probably has a stereoscopic 3D display... There is no way a 60Hz stock one could render anything in 3D. All im trying to find out is, if the HD 7970m's 3D function will work on an external 3D TV... If someone has the means to try it, please do.
