Do u guys think it's too weak for the 6990M? or 6970m is a better fit for the 2630qm? thx.............

I think either GPU will be under full load WAY before the CPU even starts to hurt. All of the i7s are very powerful, and the 2630 is more than adequate for the 6990m.

thx, and i am wondering if the hyperx memory can be installed on the 2630qm system since 2630qm doesn't support the 1666mhz memory?

Your 6990M will bottleneck way before the 2630qm is taxed to its max. The only reason to get anything higher than the 2630qm is if you do any video encoding or use programs like photoshop. Though, the 2630qm is definitely no slouch even for CPU-intensive programs. However, if you only game, 2630qm is more than enough.

I think you mean 1600mhz memory. Anyway, even though the 2630qm doesn't state that it supports 1600mhz memory, many people have gotten 1600mhz memory working by tweaking the BIOS. You might want to look up tutorials before dropping the money.

Also, take note that the difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz is negligible for gaming. As long as you have above 4GB of 1333mhz memory, save the extra money from memory/CPU upgrades, and put that money towards a SSD. You'll notice a much more noticeable improvement in performance with a faster hard drive.

Not everything revolves around a GPU. for instance, dolphin and pcsx2 are VERY cpu demanding, and the GPU is barely used. Depends on what OP is using system for. I use mine primarily for emulation, so a stronger i7 would have been a better choice. again, it all depends on OP.

A R3 with a 6990M will never be bottleneck by the cpu. If it was a M18x with dual 6990m I would consider the i7 2720QM.

My i7 740QM rarely bottleneck my dual 5870m crossfire setup while gaming, but it does happen sometimes. The i7 2630QM is very much faster than a i7 740QM, any sandybridge cpu is fantastic.
