So my friend is in the market for a notebook, partially do to me telling about how awesome my alienware is everyday...He almost took the wrong path and went Mac, until I smacked him around a bit and he came to his senses.
Now he posted two possible options on his facebook status, the Asus G73, and the M17x-r1(Not sure why, but I told him it isn't available anymore)and he's interested in:
    As an r1.
    Translate that to R2 basically.

Then this punk comes out of nowhere and starts advocating the G73. We are at an insult battle basically and I need help winning so my friend joins the Alienware clan and doesn't get abducted in 2012!

    Help me save my friend!

Well, I'd say to let him buy whatever he wants. Why? Because if you convince him to buy an Alienware, and he's not happy with it, or he gets a dud, he will most likely blame you. The Asus you speak of is a great laptop, but it's inferior to an M17x-R2. The R2 has dual 5870s. And no one gives a crap if you're rocking an Asus. Take your Alienware anywhere out in public or to a LAN party, and watch the admirers gather round!

Seems like that one dude has false info. You might want to explain the real facts to your friend, then let him choose what he wants. ASUS laptops are great for people on a budget, but if you want a reliable, easy to dissasemble and an upgradable laptop you need to get an alienware. Plus you are right alienwares do look awesome.
