I'm trying to check in Windows, I can't find what's currently installed. I know it works, but I had updated back in early August to something a LOT more stable than before. It was a beta driver recommended on here, I just can't remember what I had installed. Also, is there a newer driver that may work better and improve performance, now that it's 5 months later? At the time there weren't any official drivers that worked right for it.

P.S. Not sure if I deleted it, I remember keeping it on in my downloads just in case. I had two files here: 8.951.1-120305 and 12-8_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc. Not sure if that's what's installed. If there's anything that anyone can recommend for even better performance and fps improvements, let me know. Thanks!

as an alternative, you can check C:\AMD\support and driver version should be there as the name of de the sub folder

Thanks guys. It's "12-8_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql". Is there another one you may recommend or upgrade to?

Upgrading to another driver for the 7970m is tricky but if i am correct the 13.1 drivers has many problems sorted out.
be sure to read up on the forums on drivers for the 7970m...also take in account what kind of other HW you are running.

Using a R4 makes it plug and play....using a R2 usually means plug and pray.

Thanks. I uninstalled the subfolder for 12-8, and catalyst control center. I didn't notice anything uninstalling for the actual driver.

Perhaps you should check this out.
On the AMD site just download the mobility tool and it should spot the 13.1 driver for you.

Also i THINK you can just download the regular driver pack because the 7970M is also identified in it's installer.

Well you have to dl the correct driver first and you would have to do a complete uninstall.
I am trying to find a nice writen step by step on these forums using the cc cleaner and safe mode etc etc but i can't seem to find it.

I found this : "13-1_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql".. I did a clean uninstall, restarted. And reinstalled this file and everything seems to be working fine. I am getting a lot of frame dips though in arkham city and crysis 1, crysis 2. more than normal. but it seems like a higher framerate.

    What the info shows: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6844/driververs.png

What's installed in support or what appears that. I wiped everything at least from the windows uinstaller and the ati folder and clicked modify/uninstall. not sure if the other drivers are completely uninstalled: http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/356/filefolder.png

Also went here to download it and read for suggestions: http://alienwarearena.com/forums/topic/34272/software/ccc-13-1-mobility/?quote=718819&who=shawkana

But again, I would like to know if I'm installing it right. I really do thank you for your help and time unphoto. Thank you so much!

No problem tripleh3lix. :) (AKA Umbrella Corp.)

Well your clean install seems to have done the trick but the best thing to do is use the following steps for REAL clean (un)install:

    1.Get the installer package
    2.Get driver sweeper from Guru3d
3.Disable your ethernet/wifi adapter. (so when rebooting it will not download any drivers)
4.Use the express uninstaller from AMD.
5.When express uninstall completes, reboot into safe mode.
6.Use driver sweeper to uninstall all AMD components.
7.Go to device manager and right click you display adapter (should still be AMD) and uninstall it/them.
8.Reboot (normal) and install your latest AMD driver package.

Should this not work, you might consider looking for modded drivers but i think they don't exist yet...
    anyway good luck :)

    p.s.
i have no clue as to why you get dips....use HWInfo to see your temps, it could be that either cpu or gpu is throttleling.

Thank you so much! Did all of it, everything was gone in the AMD folders, screen went black, and asked for a restart (something it never did before). Everything seems to be running a little more stable, but I will test the framerates on Arkham City, that's what seemed to be really messing up last time. Tested, better but still stuttery. Is there a good profile we can set in AMD CCC, for best performance without sacrificing graphics?
