I'm upgrading my m17xr2 5870m crossfires for one 7970m. I am using the 330watt power supply, and have no problems with the 'plugged in - not charging' issue. The instructions say to upgrade to the latest bios before installing. My question is.. how absolutely necessary is it to flash the bios to A10 from A09 before installing the 7970m, if at all. I don't want to risk bricking my mobo, expecially since everything works fine already as is.

    There is an A10 bios?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see you have an R2. I have an R4.

According to the Driver page of A10, the importance of this BIOS update is optional. Everything it does is to fix some bugs. So I would say you absolutely don't have to update the BIOS if you don't want to. And IMO, unless there is something that you really want from the new BIOS update, otherwise, just stay away from BIOS update....

Not sure if Dell packages the vBIOS within their flashable BIOS package, althought I'm 73% sure they do. :p You're best off flashing the new BIOS. It doesn't matter what their broken site says. It's good to be on newer firmware code when upgrading hardware.
