You have to be a part of the armed forces (any) to use aafes store. Don't just join simply cuz you want the discount on stuff lolz.

Your best shot is to find a relative or a friend who can help you out. Otherwise, try calling and haggling like a young kid. It works for alot of other folks.

Yeah this is a big one. Unfortunately a lot I knew had joined for lots of reasons other than good ones (not going into details). Military life is definitely not something you go into lightly. You have to enjoy physical activity, discipline, order, working with others etc etc. Although I do think more in the US at least in the late teens really show they need more discipline in general. Was in the military for almost a couple of years, met my future wife there, learned some things, got life experience, etc. Something I will never forget.

    I will say I miss the discounts,...but that's 0.000001% of it.

Not legally. It's fraud. That's why you gotta find someone you know. Of course however, you can pay with your own cc. But you gotta call aafes to let them know, and then they'll call your friend/family member to authorize it, and then voila!

O yeah, you're that guy. Did you ever talk to DaneGRClose? Good guy, trustworthy (AFAIK) and has done this kind of thing before (NOT AAFES discount, but shipping to UK from US Dell shop). AAFES is seriously for US Armed Forces and family only (they can get in a lot of trouble for buying stuff for other people). I'd offer to ship it to you but I'm sure Dane would be a better choice.

Dookie, you sure make the rounds, don't you!

I just checked the AAFES website, and sure enough, when you configure the system, it comes out to a 22% discount, which is not what they have on the top-level page.

    NBR Marketplace

Place to sell laptops on these forums. I'd be interested, but my fiance would kick me out of the house if I tried buying another Alienware right now. Unless you were way undervaluing it, which I wouldn't want to do to you.

That is a significant discount. You could make a pretty good profit buying them from Aafes and then selling them here in the marketplace.

As long as your grand total comes out to be under $1450, then you're okay through aafes. Make sure to get the 3year advanced warranty also if you haven't already. Total should be around $17xx.

Turbo, call Dell and ask for the current 22% discount. If they won't do it, cancell the order, and re-order through AAFES. I understand you have, like, 21 days after you recieve the unit to cancell the order. It's never too late. If you have a problem, PM me and I'll give you the email of the AAFES Customer Rep I've been dealing with.

What I mean is, I'm not sure what the discount on aafes is currently, but if you order what you want, as long as your total comes to around 1400-1450 with the 2720+1080p+6970, then you're getting a good deal. Mine as 30% off, and I have it around that price, so shoot for something similar ;)

The current 22% discount applies to the base price, and to all the upgrades. Just like my wife tells me: "The more I spend, the more I save!"

Keep in mind, these discounts can change from day to day. I ordered a new XPS 15 the day they came out (22 Feb) at 25% off, and the next day they were only 10% off.

Dell says that I cannot cancel my order until Monday. Let's just hope that the discount is still actually there on Monday. Plus, I've got to wait for the funds to get back to my account, which is even more time for the discount to disappear. One of the first things I'm doing when the R3 shows up is slapping that 6970 in my R2 and seeing what happens. :D

    Keep x9100 280m sli
    or go R7 with 6870
I'll lose performance but will have upto date system.

Really want 120hz but dont want 460m...
