    Hi

I need advise about the 880m vbios compatibility. Is some of you using it with the 120hz screen? Can you give your feedbacks here? Is there any bug/problem with the 120hz Alienware 17 880m?

Thank you in advance to help me!

I am running the 780m and the modified vBios and have had no issues but that isn't to say that the 880m won't.

Thank you MogRules. Did you try to test use the laptop on battery?

I've not been able to upgrade the screen for the moment (as I'm in business trip). I'll do it soon and then I plan to do a little OC. That's why I need all the informations before doing the upgrade.

MogRules - so you have the 120hz screen with 3d running a 780m, with Svl7 Vbios with no issues?

yep, running fine for me. I added the 120hz after I bought the machine and was running it before/during the upgrade and have gone back to stock and then back to Svl7 at least once or twice. Again, this does not mean it will work on the 880m though....

As in have I used it just on battery power? yes...I don't do it that often but I do use the battery occasionally. Battery life sucks as there is no integrated GPU any more but I knew that going in and accepted it.

My case may be different, but with an Alienware m17 r4 3d/120hz and 680m, I flashed the gpu vbios without any problem.
However I flashed it back as the laptop is still under warranty.
Does anyone know if those problem can appear in R4.
    Regardsssss.

I've been running the Svl7 vbios' without any problems and worked a few people asking how to do it. The first overvolt one gets me to a stable 980mhz!

Ok, thank you, it´s good to know there is no problem.
As soon as the warranty expires I will use the vbios by svl7. One more question. Do you know how to eliminate the starting message by svl7 that appears during the booting?
    Regardsssss.

No, I asked about it when I first saw it and was told he put that in because his work was being ripped off and passed off as someone else's work!

    ok, understood.
But do you know which programm svl7 uses to mod vbios?
I´ve tried to use kepler bios tweaker, but I couldn´t unlock the 135mhz oc limit, and gpu remains throttling under 3dmark11, thing that doesn´t happen with svl7´s bios, so I guess he uses another programm.
    Thanks in advance.

No idea. Not something I've ever tried, far to much risk of a mess up IMO!

There's four svl7 vbios's to choose from so all the work is done ;)
