Did you install on top of other drivers without any mods?

Yep, just did the typical uninstall of 11.4 and install of 11.5 using only the official mobility driver release (haven't used any modded desktop drivers). Installed just fine without incident.

Yeah, was mostly excited at the possibility that Civ 5 wouldn't hang anymore with crossfire enabled (for 4870 cards). Even though they specified Windows XP fix, I was hopeful...but alas no such luck.

Regarding the benchmarks, 3Dmark was a bit lower, but 3DVantage was a bit higher, so looks to be about on par with 11.4.

I heard there is no big difference between 11.4 and dell's in games. Is that true?

    There are different opinions on how to install new ATI drivers throughout the forum. Personally I always follow this route and it seems to work fine;
    1 - remove latest CAP
2 - remove current ATI configuration
    3 - reboot
4 - clean registry with CCleaner
5 - clean left over files with Driver Sweeper
6 - reboot into safe mode (f8 on startup)
    7 - repeat steps 4 & 5
    8 - reboot - install 11.5
    9 - reboot
10 - configure system using CCC

    PS
Ive noticed a drop in BFBC2 frame rates with these driver? Anyone else?

    Hi Guys,

I'm really hoping there is an easy solution to this. Somehow trying to install the new ATI drivers messed up my Windows install so badly that I just had to spend 3 hours repairing, troubleshooting, and fighting just to get back in to windows. Now that I'm in, and running on the Intel graphics, Windows does not seem to recognize the existence of my 6970m. It is still visible in my BIOS, but when I look in my device manager, or try to install ATI drivers, the card is completely invisible to my system. Please help :(

I'm using a dual monitor setup with 11.5 now as we speak. Its a very low resolution external monitor but there it is none the less. Try resetting everything in your drivers to default values? Otherwise verify that you upgraded from the stock Dell drivers and that you didn't remove them altogether.

i verified all of that...this had been the case with 11.4 and 11.5....my resolution is 1680x1050 on the external... if i try to change ANY settings through CCC on the resolution or settings with the external hooked up, both screens go black and i have to hard power off. the stock drivers work jsut fune however....and even with 11.5, if i am on the intel video, it works fine...

I dont know if its worth the trouble to try these drivers... I'm only playing BFBC2 and Crysis 2. Is the performance boost noticeable in these 2 games with R3?

What differences are their between the new drivers and the old drivers. Is it really worth upgrading from stock drivers that work to the new ones?

I'll give the 11.5 a try. Can anyone elaborate on what, if any, benefits they realized from updating. I am currently on 11.3 and just curious what I should expect to be better.

Yeah i noticed BFBC2 has been running like crap. I have it on high settings, HBAO off, AA 1x, AF 1x ..... i mean is it just because i only have the i7 720? i have 8gb ram, raid 0 drives, and now crossfire 5870 with 11.5 and CAP....it seems like AMD/ATI just suck with drivers. I wish got SLI...

    Hi,
one question about the Profiles - I downloaded the Cap Profiles mentioned in this thread and installed them according to the .exe - now is that all or do I have to do anything else like activating them or choosing / selecting a Profile before starting a game or is this all done automatically???

    Thx

    Greets

It didn't work for me doing the typical uninstall/install routine. The new drivers installed that way, but CCC would not launch and I got an error message about something else.

Doing it the tried and true way (uninstalling followed by running Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode, then restarting followed by CCleaner's registry tool) worked flawlessly as usual.

It sure would be nice if the people writing drivers at AMD would pull their head out and make this work properly without having to jump through so many hoops.

That's all you need to do. The rest is automatic.

I get flickering in Crysis like crazy unless I force force it to use DX9 and 2XAA, then the flickering is gone. Maybe someone can post the switches to force BFBC2 to use DX9.

The 5870 cards perform better than the available NVIDIA offerings so I don't wish my system was SLi, but I do agree that AMD needs to hire some talent when it comes to their drivers. They do suck at their job.

I'm averaging around 1.5 to 2 FPS more in Crysis benchmark (from 38.2 to 39.8) on DX9 and my FurMark score was essentially unchanged. I'll run a couple more benchmarks and see if there are any noticeable changes. If there are, I will post the results. I'm not expecting anything worthy of comment.

I too had issues with flashing in Crysis 2 and someone here recommended downloading the CAP in the following link which resolved the issue. I can play XF enabled, 1920x1200 pretty smoothly now, I believe the CAP works:

    ATI Radeon? Video Card Drivers

Im using DX 11 and ATI Catalyst 11.5

Does anyone else get random black screens sometimes in BFBC2? and flickering still? I still get them with 11.5.
