Will it be an option once it's released to put one in an m17x?

99% gonna say no. Highly unlikely dell would develop 2 mobos for the same laptop, not to mention AMD is so far behind on the mobile processing platform........

    Yea, very unlikely.

The next revision most likely will have the Ivy Bridge CPU.

Thanks for your input. It's too bad... AMD is behind but their mobile Bulldozer line is "supposedly" going to be better than Sandy Bridge with less power consumption.

'Supposedly' is a word I wouldn't use. When a company that loses money can't develop a processor in time to compete with Core iX (which is going back 2 years), I treat them with little credibility.

I'd say AMD has essentially lost the mobile processing platform, from about 2 years ago. When Intel introduced the Core 2 Quad mobile, it was the nail in the coffin for AMD processors mobile wise. Since the introduction of i7, AMD is far behind with no were near catching up in sight! Their current mobile quad performance can be matched by mobile intel i5 dual cores. If it weren't for their acquisition of ATI (which i don't know how that was possible), they would have been bankrupt by now. Fortunately for them, ATI has been their saving grace by providing super powerful graphics cards (6970m/6990m) at reasonable prices.

There is a reason why they haven't released the Bulldozer yet, when it was supposed to be such a great processor.

It is because Intel is currently better. Ivy bridge is only going to lengthen that gap... I bet Ivy bridge will be close if not better than the Bulldozer.

Don't forget about Sandy Bridge-E. It is going to blow everything out of the water. The flagship CPU from it's line is a supposed 47% increase over the i7 990X.

Edit: Here's the link. Sandy Bridge-E
