Ok so I have the 6990m OCed to 820/1025 on Driver 12.4. When I play Alan Wake, Crysis 2, and The Secret World beta all play for a good 45-60mins and then the driver crashes and restarts. Like in game the, game itself freezes then flashes and then continues. Is it my overclock or the driver? I had the same issue with 12.3 drivers. I lowered the clocks down atlittle and the driver doesnt crash, but my temps are fine, mid to upper 70's and I get no screen corruption.

I'm guessing its the overclock but I'm wondering if its just the drivers? Any input??

I think...and I'm just speculating, the latest 6990m driver was having issues. I'm no expert, but the best advice I could give (since nobody else is giving any) is to try an older driver maybe...It's worth a shot.

My 6990 aswell cannot hold 820 for crysis2. Try to lower Core clock to 800Mhz and you would be ok.

thanks for the input.....im just wondering why i cant overclock my 6990m as high as i could with my 6970m. I wish Eurocom would hurry up and mail my 7970m. Its gonna be almost 2 months since I bought it. Getting impatient and alittle frustrated.....

Each video card is different. In my old R3 I could only OC my stock 6990m to to like 800-805/1025. Like a dummy I sold my 6990m after ordering a 7970m from Eurocom, which as we all know has a problem with forecasting ship dates. I then bought another 6990m and could oc that one up to like 825/1050.

Same system, same model card, different performance

My 7970 cant run crysis 2 at 900/1300 :( you play it a bit and it freezes... on 920/1300 you cant even get into the main menu

I will try overvolting and tell you how that goes - from what I read HaloGod had the same issue and overvolted and is now running crazy clocks

You would be guessing correctly. Those are really high clocks to be gaming at for hours on end. Probably more suitable for benchmarking but not for gaming. I would back off a bit and see how she goes.....unless you wanna kill your cards before their time has come ;)

Those clocks would not kill a card. I gamed 800/1100 on my old 6970 without passing 74c. perhaps it will die a bit earlier as in 7 years as opposed to 10 - but at that time I am sure all of us will have a new computer.

If you try running a benchmark at those clocks posted by the OP, it may or may not complete. Wether it does or doesnt is a good indication of the max. clocks your cards will attain - whatever it does or doesnt is slightly irrelevant but one thing for sure is that those clocks are gonna be pretty damn close to the max for a stable OC.

In my experience, those clocks are pretty close to the max. and as such, I wouldnt advise gaming on them 24/7 regardless of temperatures. It's just begging for trouble.
