Just installed the 8/25/2010 8.763 drivers and noticed that when I hit the power button to put it into sleep mode, the screen goes blank but the keyboard lights never go out. When I try to "wake" it, nothing happens. No disk activity, nothing. I have to reboot it, which sucks.

So I un-installed the drivers (and catalyst etc) and the sleep functionality is restored. Re-installing the drivers, sleep gets borked again.

    Any ideas?
    TIA

To use the new Dell drivers and have working sleep functionality you will also have to flash your GPU/s to the latest new beta vBios. The vbios is not publicly available yet. Dell is working on making a public release.

If you want to use the new dell drivers then I would recommend you read this thread extremely carefully before proceeding to flash your GPU/s vbios.

Basically the update process is to have a clean install of dells 10.8 7.683 drivers. then you flash the new vbios until both cards are completely done. There will be more detail in the thread about how to do this and other peoples experiences.
So far it has been working superbly for those whom have updated to the new drivers and vbios.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...r2-driver-amd-5870-vbios-read-post-1-2-a.html

The vbios update is optional and not recommended for all users unless they feel they want to try it out. Also you won't be able to use any older drivers after you flash to the new vbios. You will simply BSOD every time you restart or try to load windows.
There is a way to flash back to the older original vbios though. If you choose you want to give it a try PAGE 33 of the thread will have further instructions and links for where you can download the vbios.

Also just to double check, what are your M17x SPECs?
The vbios flash is ONLY for the 5870 GPUs. NO other GPUs are supported. Do not try to alter or flash any other GPUs.

    Cheers.

I actually had the same problem i was using the stock drivers and everytime i tried to wake the computer up from sleep mode/close lid it wouldnt wake up and the lights always remained on, after 2 hours on the phone with tech support we finally figured out the problem was the driver and nothing hardware related so we ran driver sweeper and completely removed any trace of any ATI driver and reinstalled them with the new BETA one that is available on the dell website, i havent had any problems since i updated the drivers hope this helps
