Hey guys I just installed Amd Gpu tool and have a question, I have a 5870m crossfire setup.

I see the little windows to raise something called engine and memory clock and also the place to raise the voltage.

Can someone with previous OC experience offer me a safe yet improved value to enter in these three windows please. (also I take it I click 'Same Clock Settings for All Devices' to clock both cards)

    Cheers guys !

EDIT: ohhh yeah can someone point out a good program to oc my cpu aswell?

I don't understand this....lol btw this is the first time I have tried anything like this.

Amd gpu tool is weird sometimes I open it and it doesn't recognize the second card.....Ill close it and re-open it and it picks it up?????

I tryed clicking on the same clock speeds for all devices but it wont let me do it......fukn thing ! Its showing one card at like 700mh and 1000mh - then the other at only like 99mh and 150mh???

Ok, first you should know that the gpus have 3 sets of frequencies.
    700/1000 for 3D
    500/1000 for video decoding
    100/150 for 2D
The reason why you get the second card on those frequencies is because it's not being used so it stays on the lowest settings to preserve power.
I'd suggest you to use rivatuner for overclocking you gpus, there's should be a guide somewhere on techinferno, though the fastest way would be via bios modding, though in your case I'd avoid that.
Usually people keep them at 800/1100 though some go as far as 850/1200, depends on you gpus and for how long you intend to keep them overclocked.
As for you CPU, it's an extreme model so you can simply download throttlestop and set up the multipliers from 22 to 25 depending on your temps, again there should be a guide somewhere on techinferno, google is your friend.

The program you mentioned says it really doesn't guarantee anything if it is used with mobile gpus.

Is it still successful with mobile gpus or should I actually listen to that footnote?

Ok guys I have worked out pretty much everything I think I need to know except Im having one problem........when I pick the master card and raise the clock speeds up....I then click on 'same clock speeds for all devices' and it says 'set clock failed' check device configuration'

Download Sapphire Trixx, instead of AMD gpu tool.

Once installed, on the setting tab higlight and select "disable ULPS" (ultra low power state).

From there you should be able to overclock both cards without further issues.

Anyway, i prefer to flash my cards or at least to rise the overclock limit of the Overdrive function present in CCC.

Agreed with CptXabaras, I use Sapphire Trixx as well, very easy to use. :)

OK I have Trixx up and running.....it seems to work for bumping up the clock speeds for both cards.....but the voltage doesn't seem to be unlocked with Trixx.......anyone run into trixx not having the ability to change the voltage?

EDIT: do I actually even need to change the voltage of the cards? I must have to if I'm raising the clock speeds right?

I don't think you could have raised the voltage in AMD clock tool either...the voltage is locked by the bios.

and i HIGHLY recommend that you don't mess with the voltage. This is how you fry cards. if you're just overclocking and you go too high, worse thing will happen is you freeze or BSOD. You reboot, and reset...there is no damage. If you start bumping your voltage too high, you will start bricking cards.

IF you're just overclocking say lower than 15-20%, stock voltage is enough...but every card is different...some people achieve miraculously high overclocks (although stability is another question)

ahhh great reply mate......thats a little more info learned.....that's reassuring to know I wont do damage to these cards using limited oc speeds and keeping a eye on the temps.

I have heard a good clock speed is 800/1100 on these cards.

I think I will just bump it up to 780/1080 or there abouts.

When i had the 5870's installed i had them flashed @800/1100 for daily use on stock clocks. I was able to up them @850/1150 still on stock voltage for benchmarks.

I don't think you'll need to overvolt'em, and i don't recomend you to use any frequency that require overvolt on a daily basis on them.

EDIT: and i second what Slick told you
