    Hi,

    Ive got an M17x R2 (bought around september 2010) and i have got a single ATI 5870M GPU. I was wondering, because i'm planning adding a second GPU (CFX) what the compatible model number is of the second GPU???

    The GPU i intend to buy is accessable thro the link below.

    Alienware ATI Rad HD5870 1gb VGA 731MJ/NN4MG EXPANSION | eBay UK

    I'd appreciate a second/third opinion etc as to whether this is the correct card.

    Thanks Alot.

    That is the correct card. I would not buy that one though as it is "seller refurbished", which makes me suspect that it is baked.

    You will need the 240w psu to power the cards.

    Part numbers:
    -GPU-
    F603N = L fan
    F605N = R fan
    C8245 = Primary card
    RV546 = 2nd card with Xfire cable
    -PSU-
    J938H = 240w psu

    The safest is to buy it from Dells sales department. Buying cards from ebay is a rather big risk as if the card is baked, it will not last long. Baking is only a temporary fix.
