    ATI 6990M discrete and also integrated?

    Question about the 6990M does the M17X r3 have an IGP that you can switch off to to save battery life? I know its not advertised like the NVIDIA Optimus...

    yes, on the m17x, you can switch between 6990m and Intel 3000 graphics

    i can get like 4+ hrs on integrated graphics

    Yes, it does. It's just not as seamless as Optimus, but you have better control over it.

    This is good to know! I assume I will be just using the standard one till I game, do you notice lower HEAT ranges as well?>

    When you use the Intel graphics the AMD card is turned off completely, so whenever I am not gaming/on battery I turn the discrete card off and no heat is produced from it
