    Hi all

As the title suggest, this is what im getting.

I am on stock Dell CCC and drivers as i have had no issues, so have always been on the lines of if its not broke don't fix it.

However its broke :) so I was wondering if someone could tell me what this fault is.

I have done some windows updates recently, and not much else.

Reading when i google it, there are replies suggesting anything from windows messing it up to a trojan virus, so figured its best to ask on here.

i am at lost as to what might have caused it - according to what you describe it really shouldn't have happened. Maybe one of those windows updates ?
good luck, hope re-installation resolves it ;)

A bit of a disaster that one, the more i look at it the more i think it was a virus.

Failed part way through the uninstall, BSOD and would not reboot even in safe mode.

Ive reinstalled an image but you know how these things go, its 5 months since i did one last so im out of date again

    hey ho.

BTW the windows image software which i did as a secondary backup system did not work, thankfully paragon backup does.

I've uninstalled CCC several times, and even went to the extent of wiping and starting over with a fresh in stall of Windows 7 but using 11.5b or 11.6 drivers, CCC will not start. I try to open it and it just sits there for a sec with the mouse loading icon and then stops suddenly without CCC coming up. Basically nothing opens. I would also appreciate any help on this matter!

    Guys,

Have you tried using system restore in Win7? It will give you a selection of restore points based on date (assuming you enable this feature). You can choose to roll back your system to the date when it's still good (stable).

Repeatedly press F8 during startup & then select the system restore.

    My personal experience:
I had the same BSOD problem also related to CCC/ATI display driver. In my case that was happened when I tried updating Dell stock display driver (8.763) to AMD 11.5b hotfix. Normal uninstallation always failed. It gave me BSOD on the halfway process (during display driver uninstallation). Removed manually the remaining stock driver using driversweeper & ccleaner in safemode with the procedure mentioned in M17x forum. Tried multiple times to install 11.5b hotfix but always failed during display driver installation. Error message: "Display driver: This Win version doesn't support this operation". This is strange since I'm using Win7 Home Edition 64 bit version.
What I did to fix this was running the system restore and roll back to the date just before I uninstall the stock driver. After the system restoration completed, I installed back the 11.5b. Still gave me the same BSOD during display adapter installation. Run driversweeper and ccleaner again to remove the remaining CCC/display driver in safe mode. Boot into normal Win. Finally install back the 11.5b. This time the installation process runs smoothly. I'm not sure what could be the culprits of BSOD. But if you run into a system problem after installing/uninstallation of program I'd suggest to use the Win7 system restore to roll back your system to the point when it's still fine.
