Hey,
I recieved my M17x R2 with Mobility 5870 Crossfire X some time ago...I have tried to play games such as Crysis and Crysis Warhead on the recomended HIGH settings however while playing the game I experience alot of fps drops and screen-tearing... shouldn't my M17x R2 be able to handle games such as Crysis on High settings???
Here are my other specs:-
-i7 920 XM
-4GB Dual-channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
Also I have crossfire enabled and YES STEALTH MODE IS OFF!

Yes it should and it can. I had the same issues you have and it was solved by updating the drivers and making catalyst ai was set to standard.
Also go into the alienware command centre program - alien fusion - high performance - ati graphics settings - and set it to performance.
Try the command centre thing first and if it fails then check ai, if that doesn't work update your drivers. -
So should I update the drivers from the dell website or the AMD site???
Also is crossfire working because when I click IDENTIFY GPU in CATALYST CONTROL CROSSFIRE MENU a 1 flashes on the screen -
This is the driver i have now and crysis runs fine.
GPU-74: ATI Catalyst? 10.7 Preview Driver for OpenGL ES 2.0 Support
I also installed this updated crossfire profile which may have helped:

EDIT: To see if crossfire is working first check to see if the box in crossfire menu is checked. Then check on gpuz to see if it says enabled. The thing you checked simply identified the display. -
Note concerning ATI based 17x's -
