    Hi guys.

I have a question in relation to the HDMI audio driver above....after messing about with various installs and uninstalls of AMD drivers, I seem to have come to the conclusion that if I "nuke" anything Ati/AMD related from my system , then when i choose to install the latest 10.12's, after then install, there is no HDMI audio driver?

Ive checked this before uninstalltion and device manager shows an Ati HDMI driver....7700 from recollection.

After removing, when i install the latest 90.2mb package, there is no HDMI driver present and device manager shows a microsoft driver?

Question being...is there a way that i can select to inclue the HDMI driver upon installing AMD drivers? - i have looked for an individual download on AMD.com but for mobility, there isnt one afaik.

There are desktop ones available here: ATI Radeon? Video Card Drivers but will they work on mobility stuff?? - if i choose custom install, will this give me the option of including the HDMI driver?

I recall on one thread, someone saying that the HDMI audio driver isnt included in the catalyst package, so, if thats the case.....how do i get it back as i currently have it.

I ask as im planning a clean OS install over the next few days and obviously, AMD will be nuked from the HDD meaning no HDMI driver ....if i cant get it "within" the latest 10.12 mobility download, where the heck can it be got from?

Thanks in advance of any reply. :D

the HDMI Driver is in the desktop driver installation package. download desktop 10.12 driver, run setup, let it extract, then cancel setup. the driver is inside \Packages\Drivers\WDM. copy that folder and place it in C:\ATI\Support\10-12_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages\Drivers and the setup will detect the required HDMI driver. hope this helps.

Would the link i posted above be of any use...its the desktop "standalone" HDMI driver at the top of the page....would it be advisable to just download this after i install mobility 10.12 if the HDMI driver isnt present from the mobility package? - doing this after, as an optional download, is it the same as copying the file as you descirbed above? - i' presuming it would be..

Yeah, that would be good...read your post on the 10.12 thread that you were gonna do that....in fact, i think Moddy was after something similar to what you are preparing....kinda like Grim's "basic" and "complete" pacakges for 10.11.....

What a PITA that it doesnt seem to be included in the mobility catalyst package....

Did what you said Alex...d/l desktop drivers....let them extract....navigated to WMD folder....copied that folder....navigated to the mobile file and pasted the WMD file into the driver folder of the mobility version.

Navigated to the newly modified mobility folder and ran the setup.exe (after removing ati via custom uninstall)....followed install as usual....well, custom install to check HDMI was there and it was as HDMI/DP driver.....ran through the rest of it and restarted.

Into device manager, check HDMI driver and its showing as AMD 7.12.0.7700

That seems to have done the trick i think!

Thanks very much for the advice...+rep indeed.

Now.....as im planning a fresh install, all i need do is save the newly modified mobility folder to flash drive and then, after chipset, i can install the full AMD 10.12 with HDMI driver....least thats how i see it...

On a side note, can the same kinda thing be done with the new style UI (ccc2)......

no worries mate. unfortunately, ccc2 cant be done the same way, unless u are determined to get it to work, dont bother trying. i've tried like more than 10x now with various combinations, still cant get it to work. enjoy your latest HDMI driver

Thanks bud, I think i wont even bother trying with CCC2....not worth the hassle and i reckon at some point, it will be released on mobility .... it is crazy though that this HDMI driver isnt packaged with mobility drivers....and it aint listed under mobility as an optional download....

Granted, i got there in the end but AMD shouldnt put its users to such lengths to get these kinda "basic" functions....

    Cheers!

Guess what? I just installed the 11.2 desktop package without any errors. I decided to see what happens, and nothing did. I did not need to drag the WMD folder to the Mobility folders. Take a look at the two screenshots attached.

In the second screenshot, is this the driver showing in Device Manager for the HDMI Audio?

Maybe I did not notice before, but CCC also seems to have a new page that I do not remember. See the third screen shot. Does your Mobility version of CCC 11.2 have this?

I'm going to run some benchmarks and see if anything changed for better or for worse with the desktop driver package.

Foxy....those are DESKTOP drivers not MOBILITY! - why have you installed them? - was it just to see?... The reason you have the AMD HD audio driver is because the desktop set DO come with it...the mobility package doesnt, so I would expect you to have the driver upon installing desktop drivers.

Regarding the 3rd screenie, yeah, its just a welcome page with some advertising blurb. Can be deactivated by unchecking the box/s below the image.

Typically, I just "grab" the WMD file from the desktop set (Idownload them, let them extract and then cancel the install. Then navigate to where the WMD file is in the set and move it to desktop. Then repeat with the mobility set, navigate to where the WMD file *should* be, and drag the file from desktop into it, close and then run the main .exe)

How is your performance if you do have the desktop set installed? - Im no expert but arent you having issues?

So, does it appear the correct HDMI driver installed?

Yes, I wanted to see what happened, or did not, if I did not cancel out after extracting... and to see if the installation would actually complete. Probably only completed because I did not do a clean install and did an in-place install over the Mobility drivers. (I normally never do that.)

So far no issues to report. No problems and no appreciable performance increase or decrease based on benchmarks. In game "feel" might be slightly improved in Crysis. The Crysis64 benchmark improved by an average of 2 FPS over 6 loops, which is within a normal margin of error I think. 3DMark06 results are essentially unchanged.

I don't remember the CCC screen with the advertisement junk from before. But, there is not much reason to spend time in "playing" in CCC, so maybe I just was not observant.

The probable reason is that you check the box for "Allow Web Content". Uncheck the checkbox and see if it occurs again.

Vico100 - check your PM inbox. I just sent you some information on the test BIOS that Steviejones mentioned. We would appreciate having more testers.

    Have a great weekend.
