I don't know how to explain better the situation but sometimes, while im on AC plugged, it'l like the battery wont charge. it's like i unplug for 5sec the Ac and when this episode appears, it happen each minutes. Also my battery was with the battery protection activated because the alienware is 90% of time plugged. Also now, the battery wont charge more than 51% but each 3 days it upgrade, now it charge max till 54%.
I unplugg the battery and no problem. So i assume its the battery or the motherboard? Someone know this issue?

I'd definitely lean towards the battery if nobody else who has had this problem replies...

Well i had a problem similar with my Alienware 18. All of a sudden it stopped charging and the power kept going down and finally it went down to 0% and it turned off. It would turn on. I called Dell support and they had me disconnect battery and hold power button down for around 30 seconds. I then plugged battery back in and it would power on. I thn disconnected battery again and connected the power brick and again it wouldn't turn on. So Dell sent me a box and I sent it to Houston. The result it was a bad mobo and graphics. They shipped back and SLI graphics wasn't so I sent back and the replacement mobo was bad. They fixed and I've had itr back 2 weeks and all is well.

i can use my laptop perfectly without battery connected.
If battery plugged, it can load it till a max, actually it's 54%. and i can use it in battery mode like normal but if i start loading the battery, at a hazardous point, it will start to virtually disconnect AC each minutes or 2 or 5minutes but laptop don't shut down.
I'm out of warranty so i hope it's the battery only^^ and if not i will go for a clevo.

Sounds like the battery has failed if everything is running fine without it. I would look into a new battery....out of curiosity how old is it?

You can try running diagnostics and see if it pics up the failed battery.

Diagnostic say no problem and i baught this unit in august 2013. I was always in desktop mode and yes, my system was constantly Ac plugged.
I want to buy one, but Dell romania cannot sell me one, and from ebay, i'm afraid it's a false battery.. :/

I had the same problem for 8 Months drove me Nutz. :vbeek:. this NB forum gave me the tools to check everything.. Pig stubborness helped me beat it in the end. I bought a second hand battery and it didnt charge either, I just kept at it and driver issues seemed to be the cause of the problem in the end my Friend... Ive heard to put the battery in your freezer for a day to regenerate it. havent tried it tho. Anyone else heard of this trick. :vbeek:

Hope you manage to get it going
