    hello everyone

I am having serieus driver problems with my 290x for win 8.1 and win 10 .
the OS instals the card as an hd8970 instead of the normal 290x
I tried installing drivers from cd but they are very much outdated
latest catalyst program isent responding as well . so if anyone can help me with working drivers pls help

Thats normal, the card is basicially a HD 8970M so that's absolutely correct.

Catalyst are a huge mess, just go to AMD site and download the latest Crimson drivers.

We don't know if your FPS is low or not, you don't give us any examples of anything.

Did you try to use the radeon crimson drivers from the amd website?

Your card is also quite dated, and you're trying to run a very horribly unoptimized pile of garbage called PUBG. That's not going to go very well.

DOOM should run on ultra around 75fps on average.

PUBG should also run fine, as already said previously, try the newest crimson drivers, catalyst is garbage.

catalyst is not garbage at all, I actually quite prefer the interface to Crimson....but that's not the point. AMD drivers have not been an issues since 2013 onwards.

OP: 8970M is the same card as the R9 M290X, just called two different things. If you are getting terrible frames, make sure you use DDU and installed the latest fresh drivers from AMD's site. If the problems persist, you may have a power delivery issue (power supply may be dying...)

I only had issues with catalyst. Crimson worked fine tho.
