I got the AW M17X R3 a week back and i'm not so satisfied with the performance of the SATA HDD(720 gigs) during boot-up and application loading

...looking forward to include a 120 GB SSD for OS and applications and use the present SATA for storage

Please suggest, if it's doable at home? will there be any problems if i open it up myself?

Also please suggest some good SSDs

    Thanks for ur help!

You want the Vertex 3, there's an SSD thread you can check out as well.

Vertex 3 is the fastest HD currently, get the 120GB MaxIOPS edition or 240GB model. My bootup time is roughly 10 seconds including post.

You can swap it out no problem, take the battery out and there is two screws holding the bottom panel on, unscrew them and slide it off. Easiest computer EVER to swap out HD's :)

Get the Corsair Force 3, this thing is as good as the V3 but cheaper. Mine boots in 8 - 10 seconds.
