Hi all
I got the new 17 2018 alienware laptop last Thursday and after a few hours of necessary setting up I got to my fav game, Elite Dangerous.
As it started up I thought the 'clouds' that the logo comes out of looked a bit odd but thought nothing of it.
But then in the game . . . . awful. the nebula and the suns all had no graduation from bright or colour to dark/black.
I had gone for what I had looked in to and decided was a the best screen for the money, 17.3 inch QHD (2560 x 1440) 120Hz TN+WVA Anti-Glare 400-nits with Tobii Eye-tracking- Silver Chassis.
I wasnt bothered about the viewing angle as Im sitting in front of the monitor so who cares about the side. I was going to be getting some hellish refresh rates and bright screen.
the colour was not a vibrant as the previous M17x R3 I have but still nice but I dont believe they are selling a games machine with a screen that cant handle the colours that are needed for smooth shading/transition.
If I took a screen shot and looked at the image on my old laptop it was beatufull but not so on my new one. Now I have a couple images, one that I have had to adjust to make it look like it does on the new screen and one that is just as it comes so that I can show you what I mean.
Basically is anyone else having this issue ???
If I play farcry on it, it looks great but there is not the colour change in that game like there is in elite.
Is this what to expect from TN panels these days?
